Creating The Need ...

CREATING THE NEED BUT NOT THE REALITY

Everywhere you look you will find the martial arts being promoted as the answer to all of your hopes, dreams and prayers with the offer of being taught not only the best effective self defence skills but also the best of the best of all deadly fighting techniques that will enable you to kill.

One of many tricks of the trade when it comes to selling your product or service, regardless of your business, is to create a need even if you do not need it. A perfect example would be to make people think that their product or service is vital to your well-being, happiness or safety - but is it?

In the case of the martial arts you will find promotional posters, leaflets and on-line advertisements, that are further enhanced by a wide variety of people promoting harmony of the mind and spirit, enlightenment and a whole range of books and articles covering all manner of things from how to perform a simple basic punch to words of never ending wisdom, but the true nature of combat, is very far removed from the idealistic world of the martial arts that people see and read about every day.

Therefore you need to ask yourself - do I need the martial arts to make myself a better person and all the things it offers or is it all a waste of time?

Therefore before taking up the martial arts, which in all fairness does offer many benefits, you need to be aware that in combat there are no rules of practice or a warrior code only savage, brutal and very animalistic and ugly violence.

Ask any average woman who has been ganged raped or anyone who has had to fight for their very life if the warrior code or the disciplines taught to them was of any true value and I am sure they will say that such things at that very moment in time was far from their thoughts.

The most sweet and gentle man or the most kind and loving woman under such circumstances will become an animal of the worst kind in an effort to survive because if they don't become that savage beast then they will die.

When you become fully aware of the true nature of fighting then you can make a more realistic judgement as to if you should take up the martial arts or not, which can be far more important to do than to worry about which martial art style is the best to practice, unless of course you are taking up the martial arts as a sport combat or simple hobby.
